Vision and Architectural Design
For the owners, the original brief was clear: create a “grand country cottage.” They sought to honour the established Berry architecture, like the old cottages with steep roofs but elevate the structure into a functional, light-filled family home.
Maximising natural light and energy efficiency was a key design pillar. This was achieved through a strategic north-facing orientation, which, combined with the pavilion style construction, allowed daylight to flood the interiors.
Elevated Features for Modern Living
The original home in Berry was immediately hampered by a lack of modern functionality. The comprehensive remodel by Concept Construction was an exercise in strategic value creation, filling every amenity gap to satisfy the next homeowner.
Practicality was immediately solved with the addition of a streamlined double garage for secure storage. The real luxury, however, is climate-focused: an atmospheric wood fire heater serves as the home’s core for efficient, cozy heat, complemented by high-end underfloor heating for consistent comfort.
Refined Country Kitchen & Interiors
While maintaining the authentic country weatherboard aesthetic was paramount, James’ focus was on a premium level of finish. Concept Constructions achieved this through meticulous detailing and material selection, ensuring the final product feels sophisticated, not just rustic.
This commitment to quality is showcased in the kitchen, featuring classic Shaker style cabinetry and a charming country style sink. Premium, functional elements include a dedicated pot filler tap over the range, a genuine luxury kitchen feature. Throughout the home, the use of wide profile skirtings adds a touch of traditional, high-quality craftsmanship, solidifying the home’s bespoke feel.
Welcomed into the Berry Community
Even during the intensive construction process carried out by Concept Constructions, the owners experienced the warmth of the community. They were quick to praise their new neighbours in Berry who were “really accommodating,” even assisting with garden choices and providing friendly support with homemade treats.
